### Abstract
We introduce **Kimi K2.5**, an open-source multimodal agentic model designed to advance general agentic intelligence. K2.5 emphasizes the joint optimization of text and vision so that the two modalities enhance each other. This includes a series of techniques such as joint text-vision pre-training, zero-vision SFT (Supervised Fine-Tuning), and joint text-vision reinforcement learning. Building on this multimodal foundation, K2.5 introduces **Agent Swarm**, a self-directed parallel agent orchestration framework that dynamically decomposes complex tasks into heterogeneous sub-problems and executes them concurrently. Extensive evaluations show that Kimi K2.5 achieves state-of-the-art results across various domains including coding, vision, reasoning, and agentic tasks. Agent Swarm also reduces latency by up to **4.5×** over single-agent baselines. The team releases the post-trained Kimi K2.5 model checkpoint to facilitate future research and real-world applications of agentic intelligence.

### Introduction
Kimi K2.5 represents a significant step forward in the development of truly intelligent agents. Unlike previous models that primarily focus on language or isolated visual understanding, K2.5 is built from the ground up to be a **multimodal agentic system**, capable of perceiving, reasoning, and acting in complex environments. The core innovation lies in treating text and vision as equal partners in intelligence, rather than secondary inputs. Through techniques like joint pre-training and reinforcement learning, the model ensures that visual information can guide language generation and vice versa. Furthermore, the introduction of **Agent Swarm** allows K2.5 to tackle large, unwieldy problems by breaking them down into smaller, parallelized tasks, dramatically improving efficiency and speed.

### Key Innovations
**1. Joint Multimodal Optimization**
Kimi K2.5 was trained using joint text-vision pre-training and fine-tuning. This means the model doesn’t just “see” an image and “talk” about it; it uses visual context to inform its language and uses linguistic instructions to guide its visual search and interpretation. This synergy is further enhanced through joint text-vision reinforcement learning, allowing the model to learn from complex, multi-step feedback.
**2. Agent Swarm Architecture**
The standout feature of K2.5 is its **Agent Swarm** framework. When presented with a complex task, the model doesn’t attempt to solve it linearly. Instead, it autonomously decomposes the task into specialized sub-agents. These agents work in parallel, communicating and coordinating to solve the problem as a whole. This divide-and-conquer strategy is what enables the impressive latency reductions observed in testing.
**3. Open-Source Commitment**
In a move aimed at accelerating the field, the Kimi team has released the post-trained model checkpoint. This decision is intended to democratize access to advanced agentic intelligence, allowing researchers and developers to build upon and refine the technology.

### Performance and Evaluation
Kimi K2.5 has been rigorously evaluated across a broad spectrum of benchmarks. The results demonstrate state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance not just in standard coding or visual question answering, but in integrated agentic tasks that require planning, tool use, and multi-modal reasoning. The Agent Swarm architecture has proven particularly effective, cutting latency by up to **4.5 times** compared to single-agent execution models.

### FAQ
**Q1: What does “multimodal” mean for Kimi K2.5?**
A: Multimodal means the model can process and understand more than one type of input. For K2.5, this primarily means **text and images**. It can look at a chart, read a report about it, and then generate a comprehensive analysis, treating both the visual data and the textual data as essential parts of the reasoning process.
**Q2: What is “Agent Swarm”?**
A: Agent Swarm is a built-in framework that allows the model to act like a team of specialized workers. Instead of solving a complex problem in one go, the model breaks the problem down into smaller tasks, creates sub-agents to handle each one in parallel, and then synthesizes the results. This makes the entire process faster and more efficient.
**Q3: Is Kimi K2.5 an open-source model?**
A: Yes, the Kimi team has released the post-trained model checkpoint. This makes it an open-source model intended for research and commercial use, fostering wider innovation in the AI community.
**Q4: How does K2.5 differ from standard Large Language Models (LLMs)?**
A: While standard LLMs are primarily text-based, K2.5 is a **multimodal agentic model**. It can understand images and use that understanding to inform its text generation. Furthermore, it doesn’t just respond to prompts; it can autonomously plan and execute complex multi-step tasks using its Agent Swarm framework.
**Q5: What are some potential applications of this technology?**
A: Potential applications are vast and include advanced robotics control, complex data analysis and visualization, automated coding and debugging, autonomous research assistants, and sophisticated multi-step problem-solving in fields like science and engineering.

### Conclusion
Kimi K2.5 is more than just a new model; it is a new paradigm for AI intelligence. By deeply integrating multimodal understanding with a scalable agentic architecture, it moves beyond simple chatbot functionality toward genuine problem-solving capability. The release of the open-source checkpoint is a pivotal moment, enabling the global community to accelerate research and development. As Agent Swarm continues to be explored, we are witnessing the dawn of a new era where AI agents operate not just as tools, but as collaborative partners capable of tackling the most complex challenges.
