The official website for the widely-used JDownloader download manager was hacked earlier this week to spread harmful Windows and Linux installers. The Windows version was found to deliver a Python-based remote access trojan (RAT). This supply chain attack impacted users who downloaded installers from the official site between May 6 and May 7, 2026, specifically through the Windows “Download Alternative Installer” links or the Linux shell installer. The developers explained that the attackers altered the website’s download links to redirect users to malicious third-party files instead of the genuine installers. “Digital transformation” is a term frequently heard in government circles, yet many agencies struggle to implement it effectively on a large scale. If you’ve worked with AI coding tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Gemini CLI, you’ve likely hit this familiar snag: you explain what you need, the agent spits out clean code that compiles fine, but somehow misses the point of what you actually wanted. “Vibe-coding” gets the job done for quick experiments, but it starts to break down when you’re building production-grade software or modifying established projects. According to GitHub, the problem isn’t the AI’s coding ability — it’s how we’ve been using it. Instead of treating these agents like search engines, we should think of them as detail-oriented…

The discussion sounds simple, but the underlying issue is anything but. The customer purchased servers back in 2017 and normally replaces them every five to six years. Under typical circumstances, they would have been shopping for replacements around 2022 or 2023. That’s how it would have played out in the past. Then the pandemic struck, bringing supply chain disruptions along with it. The original end-of-life announcement that would have arrived around 2023 got pushed back — to 2026 for general software updates and 2028 for security patches. That stretched the usable lifespan of that server platform to roughly a decade,…
