According to Santiment data, long-dormant Cardano wallets are suddenly becoming active again, coinciding with Charles Hoskinson’s bold return and his claim that the network has the potential to “run the world.”
Is this the bullish reversal investors have been waiting for, or just a temporary bounce before further selling pressure?
What the Cardano Dormant Wallet Activity Reveals
Cardano dormant wallets are addresses that have held ADA without any activity for extended periods. Santiment data indicate these older holdings are now coming back to life, a pattern that has historically emerged near major market turning points.
Cardano’s Mean Dollar Invested Age, which measures the average age of capital stored across ADA wallets, had been climbing steadily since early May. That upward trend halted for the first time in five weeks, suggesting that older coins are now being transferred.

Meanwhile, the Age Consumed metric experienced a sharp spike between June 4 and June 9. The most significant surge occurred on June 9, registering the highest reading since April and confirming that dormant ADA holdings are re-entering circulation.
Age Consumed tracks both the number of tokens moved and how long they were held before being transferred. A sudden spike indicates that coins sitting idle for long periods are suddenly becoming active, which often aligns with shifts in broader market direction.
“These signals don’t automatically guarantee a reversal is imminent, but they do suggest that something has shifted beneath the surface. Historically, clusters of Age Consumed spikes combined with a pause (or decline) in Mean Dollar Invested Age have frequently appeared around key market turning points,” Santiment explained.
The timing is significant. ADA is trading near $0.16, roughly 94% below its all-time high of $3.09, and the recent price decline may be prompting long-term holders to start moving their tokens once again.
CoinGlass data provides additional context. Approximately 20 million ADA (around $34 million) flowed off exchanges into self-custody wallets over the past 24 hours, reinforcing the narrative that participants are buying the dip rather than selling into broader market weakness.
Why Hoskinson’s Return Strengthens the Bullish Thesis
Charles Hoskinson made a striking comeback on June 8 with a bold declaration. The Cardano founder argued that the blockchain has the potential to serve as the foundational operating system for the entire world, addressing a multi-trillion-dollar global trust crisis.
He outlined four core pillars that he believes set Cardano apart. These include the Ouroboros consensus protocol, the extended UTXO accounting model, the modularity of partner chains like Midnight, and a decentralized governance framework.
Hoskinson also took aim at competing networks for prioritizing speed over decentralization. He positioned Cardano as playing a fundamentally different long-term game, one focused on solving real-world problems rather than chasing short-term trends in the crypto market.
“…When I look at the competitors, we’re playing a different game than them. And that’s why we’re going to win… They’re chasing the flavor of the week, the company of the week, the announcement of the week. And we want to change the world. We want the world to be a better place,” Hoskinson stated.
He encouraged the Cardano community to move beyond focusing exclusively on metrics like Total Value Locked or short-term token prices. His broader vision ties Cardano’s mission to global trust, economic value creation, and even what he described as world peace.
The combination of his message and the dormant wallet activity creates a compelling setup. Long-term ADA holders appear to be repositioning at the same time the founder is reasserting the project’s long-term vision, a dynamic that has historically signaled accumulation phases.
These signals are not foolproof. Dormant coins moving could also indicate distribution rather than accumulation. However, exchange outflows, prices at capitulation levels, and renewed founder communication suggest that the bullish interpretation currently carries more weight than the bearish one for ADA in the coming weeks.
