Kenya, 28 November 2025 – As Africa’s startup ecosystem continues to gain momentum, Latitude59 Kenya Edition 2025, the African arm of Estonia’s leading global startup platform, is set to highlight some of the continent’s most cutting-edge technologies, from AI-powered solutions to drone-enabled platforms. The event, taking place from December 3 to 5 at the A.S.K Dome in Nairobi, will see ten startups from a pool of over 200 applications representing 27 countries compete in the final stage of the pitch competition.
The selected startups are developing technologies that span multiple sectors, reflecting the diversity and ambition of Africa’s innovation landscape. These include AI-driven crop health platforms, drone-based carbon measurement, automated smart-locker systems, healthcare operations software, influencer management tools, circular pet nutrition, and clean aquatic protein solutions for sustainable food systems.
Triin Ilves, Head of Startup Relations at Latitude59, highlighted the technological sophistication of the applicants. “The level of execution we saw this year was remarkable. Narrowing the list to ten was extremely challenging. These teams are not only building impressive technology, they are bringing clarity, speed, and global ambition,” she said.
The startups exemplify how African innovators are leveraging technology to solve both local and global challenges. For instance, AI-powered crop health platforms promise to optimize agricultural yields and reduce waste, while drone-enabled carbon measurement tools provide real-time data critical for sustainability monitoring and climate action initiatives. Similarly, smart-locker infrastructure and healthcare software are aimed at streamlining logistics and operational efficiency in urban and service sectors.
Investor interest in these technologies is strong. Nick Vilelle, founder of the Nairobi Business Angel Network (NaiBAN), emphasized the growing confidence in African tech startups. “It is because of founders like these that we formed our network. We are eager to write a check next week and join the journey of one of these inspirational founders,” he said.
Beyond the competition, Latitude59 Kenya 2025 will feature thought leaders and innovators sharing insights on scaling technology, resilience, and navigating Africa’s rapidly evolving markets. Notable speakers include David Nandwa of Honeycoin, Monicah Muhoya from SisterSpeaks Global, and Vinod Goel from Jumia East Africa, who will provide practical guidance on growth and tech adoption.
